ABOUT MADELEINE
Versatile violinist Madeleine Jansen has been praised by the San Francisco Classical Voice for her interpretation of composers from Dvorak to Brubeck. As of Fall 2022, she is the professor of violin and viola at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
As a soloist, Madeleine has performed in Carnegie Hall, the United Nations Headquarters, Capitol Hill, St. Peter’s Church (Wall Street) and Flushing Town Hall. Madeleine has led performances as concertmaster with the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Cantata Series at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the UMass Amherst Symphony Orchestra, and at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall. Additionally, she is a core member of Baltimore’s Mount Vernon Virtuosi Orchestra, led by Amit Peled. In 2021, Madeleine co-founded Arco, an unconducted orchestra project dedicated to forging creative connections with audiences in the greater D.C. area. Beyond classical music, Madeleine has performed with The Eagles, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and on NBC’s Today Show.
As an educator, Madeleine is committed to mentoring the next generation of musicians. Her students have been accepted to the Manhattan School of Music and Juilliard pre-college divisions as well as the violin performance programs at San Francisco Conservatory, University of Michigan, Boston University, NYU, University of Maryland, Vanderbilt University, and others. Madeleine currently serves as violin faculty and string department chair at Luzerne Music Center (NY), a summer music festival for talented pre-college level students. Prior to that, she taught at Interlochen Arts Camp.
Madeleine studied at Boston University, Royal College of Music (London), and UMass Amherst, and completed her doctorate at the University of Maryland, where her dissertation research focused on audience engagement.
